What is Aadhaar ?

Aadhaar is an identification number consists of 12 digits unique numeric pattern that is provided to each and every citizen of India. Methods to obtain Aadhar Card Online( e-Aadhaar Card)

There are different methods by which you can download your Aadhaar Card easily.

  • By using mAadhaar application.
  • Via DigiLocker Mobile Application.
  • Via UMANG Mobile Application.

Aadhaar Download using UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) website

UIDAI comes under government of India and created with a motive of providing Unique Identification numbers (UID), known as “Aadhaar”, to each individual of India. There are few different ways to download e-Aadhar from UIDAI website. These methods are:

  1. Aadhaar Download via Aadhaar Number
  2. E-Aadhaar Download via Enrolment ID
  3. Online Download Aadhaar via Virtual ID
  4. Download Aadhaar via Name/DOB (Date of Birth)/Father Name/Mobile Number/e-mail

A. How to Download Aadhaar via Aadhar Number?

This option to Download Aadhaar Card Online is suitable if you already have your Aadhaar Number. Follow the simple step by step guide to Download e-Aadhaar Card.

  • Firstly, go to UIDAI official website.
  • Then go to “My Aadhar” option available at top menu.
  • Then select “Download Aadhaar” option.
  • After that you have to enter 12-digit UID (1234/1234/1234).
  • At next step, check the checkbox if your needed a masked Aadhar other wise leave it unchecked.
  • Then after the captcha verification select either “Send OTP” or “Enter a TOPT” option.
  • Once it is done, your e-Aadhaar download procedure will be started.
Masked Aadhaar: By this option you can mask or cover your Aadhaar Number in the copy of your downloaded e-Aadhaar. In this option the first 8 digits of the Aadhaar Number is replaced by “XXXX-XXXX” and only last 8 digits are visible.
OTP : One time password generated while requesting to Download e-Aadhaar Card Online. You will receive OTP only on your registered mobile number.
TOTP: Temporary One time password which is different from OTP as it does not depend on moblile server ad SMS service. It is 8 digit unique numeric pattern which is only valid for 30 seconds after generating. 

B. Online Download e-Aadhaar via Enrolment ID

This is the another way to download the e-Aadhaar Card all you need to have is your enrolment ID.

The steps to Download e-Aadhaar Online via enrolment ID includes:

  • Firstly, visit UIDAI official website
  • Click on “My Aadhaar” followed by “Download Aadhaar
  • Select “Enrolment ID(EID)” option.
  • Then enter 14 digit ENO and 14 digit Date-Time stamp( by selecting date from calender).
  • At next step, check the checkbox if your needed a masked Aadhar other wise leave it unchecked.
  • Then after the captcha verification select either “Send OTP” or “Enter a TOPT” option.
  • Once it is done, your can download your e-Aadhaar.
Enrolment ID: It is a unique 14 digit ENO and 14 digit Date-Time stamp which is available on Enrolment Slip (You get this slip after completing the process of enrolling for the Aadhaar).

C. Download Aadhaar via Virtual ID

Download Aadhar via Virtual ID is also an available option on UIDAI website. For using this method to Download e-Aadhaar you have to follow these simple steps:

  • Firstly, visit UIDAI official website
  • Click on “My Aadhaar” followed by “Download Aadhaar
  • Select “Virtual ID (VID)” option
  • Then enter 16-digit VID number
  • At next step, check the checkbox if your needed a masked Aadhar other wise leave it as unchecked as it is.
  • Now enter the captcha and select either “Send OTP” or “Enter a TOPT” option.
  • At last, your can download your e-Aadhaar

D. Download Aadhaar Card Online via Name/DOB (Date of Birth)/Father’s Name/Mobile Number/E-mail

By using some personal details like your Name/Date of Birth/Father’s Name/Mobile number/E-mail etc you can still avail your e-Aadhar Card. For this you have to follow some of the steps mentioned below:

  • Firstly, visit the official site of UIDAI.
  • Then click on “My Aadhar” option and a drop down menu will appear.
  • Then go to the section “Get Aadhaar” .
  • Here you will find an option “Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID’‘ click on it.
  • A new page will appear where you have to fill some of your details.
  • You can choose between ‘Aadhaar No. (UID)’ or ‘Enrolment ID (EID)’.
  • Now you have to fill your Name with your Registered Mobile Number or Registered E-Mail.
  • Then after Captcha verification you have to choose either “Send OTP” or “Enter TOTP“.
  • After entering OTP/TOTP you can click on “Verify and Download” .
  • At last, your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded.

Download Aadhaar Card Online using mAadhaar Application

mAadhaar is a mobile application. It is an official app developed by UIDAI. It provides Aadhaar Card holder access to his Aadhaar Card anytime anywhere via their mobile phone and registered mobile number. For downloading your Aadhaar Card using mAadhaar Application all you need to follow below mentioned steps carefully.

  • Firstly, download the mAadhaar on your phone.
  • After this open the app and you will see a screen with message “Create a password before importing your Aadhaar profile on this mobile”.
  • You have to enter a password, which should be minimum of 8 character including 1 special character, 1 digit and 1 capital alphabet.
  • Now you have to create your profile by adding your Aadhaar Number (You can also directly scan the barcode present on your Aadhaar card ).
  • Then click on “Verify” button an OTP is generated and read automatically by the app.
  • Your Aadhaar details will be added and profile will be created.
  • Then at the home screen of your app you will get an option “Get Aadhaar” under which “Download Aadhaar ” option is available.
  • After clicking on the “Download Aadhaar” on another screen you will get two options “Regular Aadhar” and “Masked Aadhaar” .
  • You can click on the required option. Again three options you will get under “I Have”
  • Aadhaar Number“, “Virtual ID(VID) Number“, “Enrolment ID(EID)”
  • After selecting and filling details you can Download your Aadhaar.

Download Aadhaar Card Online using DigiLocker Mobile Application

DigiLocker is a mobile application which makes user able to link their Aadhaar Card with DigiLocker. By this they can get their e-Aadhaar anywhere anytime. DigiLocker has partnered with UIDAI. By using this app you can download your e-Aadhaar by following simple step-by-step guide.

  • Firstly download DigiLocker app on your mobile.
  • And click on “Get Started
  • As a new user click on the “Create Account“.
  • Then you have to fill your details like Your Full Name, Date of Birth, Mobile number, Set 6 digit security PIN, Email Id and Aadhaar Number.
  • Finally, click on the “Submit” button.
  • Then enter OTP sent on your registered mobile number and click on “Submit” button.
  • And click on the “Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)”.
  • After this give your consent to DigiLocker to share your details.
  • Now again you have to enter a new OTP sent on your registered mobile number.
  • Now your Aadhaar is downloaded successfully and can be seen in “Issued Document“.
  • For downloading your e-Aadhaar you can click on your Aadhar card in “Issued Document” and click on the “Download PDF“.

E- Aadhaar Download Via UMANG Mobile Application

UMANG is a platform to access all the Indian government facilities at one place which are available for Indian citizens, from Central to Local Government bodies. Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) developed it.

Steps to download e-Aadhar from UMANG is here under:

  • Firstly, download UMANG app on your phone.
  • Now Register yourself and login into your account.
  • Then click on “All Services” and go to “Aadhaar Card”.
  • After that select the option “View Aadhaar Card from DigiLocker”.
  • It will redirect you to DigiLocker home page. Where you have to register yourself by following the steps discussed earlier in the method “Download Aadhaar Card Online using DigiLocker Mobile Application“.
  • Now you can easily see your Aadhaar Card with the help of DigiLocker.
It is to be noted that when you download your Aadhar by any above given method then it will always be in PDF form and Password protected. To open the file you have to enter the password which is nothing but first four letters of your name in Capital letters and your year of birth. For example, If your name is Raj Kumar and your year of birth is 1990 then your password will be  “RAJK1990”
